Senior Data & AI Engineer – Snowflake (all genders)
Date: Oct 1, 2026
Location: Zürich, CH
Company: valantic GmbH
Effective Field
As a Technical Lead, you are responsible for the architecture and implementation of modern data platforms on Snowflake – from target architecture to productive operations. Together with business and IT, you translate business requirements into robust technical solutions and establish Snowflake best practices in your teams.
You build scalable data pipelines with SQL, Python/Snowpark and dbt, using Streams, Tasks, Dynamic Tables and UDFs, and integrate source systems such as SAP, CRM and streaming data. With Snowflake Cortex AI (e.g. Cortex Search, Cortex Analyst, Agents), you implement GenAI and ML use cases directly on the platform.
You ensure quality and cost efficiency through clean data modeling, governance with Snowflake Horizon, role and access concepts as well as performance and cost optimization. You automate deployments with CI/CD and Infrastructure as Code (e.g. Terraform) on AWS or Azure. In sales/presales, you run workshops and PoCs, estimate effort and help shape proposals. You coach colleagues and actively build our Snowflake community in the DACH region.
What distinguishes you
- Degree in Computer Science, Business Informatics, Data Science or a comparable qualification, and at least 6 years of experience in data engineering, ideally in consulting
- Several successfully delivered Snowflake projects in a key role, e.g. cross-departmental platforms or migrations from legacy systems (Oracle, Teradata, SAP BW)
- Deep understanding of Snowflake architecture (warehouse sizing, clustering, caching, query tuning, monitoring and cost optimization)
- Strong SQL and Python skills, experience with dbt and modern data modeling (e.g. star schema, Data Vault)
- Experience with data integration and orchestration of production pipelines (e.g. Airflow, Dagster, Fivetran or Openflow)
- Hands-on experience with at least one hyperscaler (AWS or Azure) as well as CI/CD and IaC
- Experience with AI/ML use cases, ideally with Snowflake Cortex or Snowpark ML
- Structured, accountable way of working and the ability to explain complex topics clearly to both business and IT stakeholders
